Pros and cons of Home Inspector Pro

Pros

  • Very configurable templates that long-time users have tuned for years.
  • Mobile apps for iOS and Android.
  • Scheduling available through HIP Office.

Cons

  • Pricing is not listed openly, so it's harder to compare.
  • Heavier setup: custom templates take time to build and maintain.
  • Desktop-era workflow can mean finishing reports at night instead of on site.

Why inspectors switch from Home Inspector Pro

  • Start inspecting the same day with prebuilt home, commercial and mold templates.
  • Upload your existing checklist as a PDF or CSV and let AI turn it into a template.
  • Write findings from photos with AI instead of clicking through long comment lists.
  • Use voice notes anywhere in the app on any phone, tablet or computer.
  • Know your price up front: $39 a month Core, $99 a month Pro.

Desktop-era tools were built for a time when you took notes on site and wrote the report at night. Today clients and agents expect the report the same day, often within hours.

Inspect Ace is designed to finish most of the report on site. Photos go into an inbox, the AI suggests the defect, the severity and a recommendation, and you approve or edit each one. When you leave the property, the report is mostly written.

Where Home Inspector Pro is a good fit

Home Inspector Pro is very configurable, and long-time users have tuned their templates over many years. If you rely on a heavily customized template, plan an hour to rebuild it in Inspect Ace, or upload it as a PDF or CSV and let the AI draft it for you.

Our verdict

For most home, commercial and mold inspectors, Inspect Ace gives more for less: AI findings from photos, voice notes, a CRM, texting and a client portal for $39 a month, with home, commercial and mold reports in one account. Home Inspector Pro remains a reasonable choice for inspectors who already run a heavily customized HIP template and want to keep it.

  3. Add your logo and company details so reports carry your brand.
  4. Run your next inspection on your phone, using photos and voice notes.
  5. Publish the report and send your client the portal link by email or text.
